Artist's Description

This is a small original abstract watercolor painting on a watercolor paper. Artwork inspired by the refugee time. The following is a Margaret Atwood's quote from her book "The Handmaid's Tale" which I borrowed the title for this watercolor when I painted it in 2013. ... I came through the handmaid's mirror ... I am a refugee from the past, and like other refugees I go over the customs and habits of being I've left or been forced to leave behind me, and it all seems just as quaint, from here, and I am just as obsessive about it ... I wander back, try to regain those distant pathways; I become too maudlin, lose myself. Weep. Weeping is what it is, not crying ... I am weeping about my lost youth; I'm staring into the mirrors and repeating the same words: It was so great. It was so great....

About Fine Art by Alexandra

Fine Art by Alexandra

“My favorite thing is to go where I've never been.”… Diane Arbus TRAVEL is my passion and my lifelong dream is to see the whole WORLD…one country at the time. See the manmade landmarks and the natural beauty of the landscape, flora and fauna. Meet people and get to know their culture, language and lifestyle. Learn about the history, traditions, religion and ancestors of their land. Make new friendships; promote peace, kindness and understanding… I am not sure if I will be able to visit all countries of the world, but I will certainly try. So far I have been blessed to travel quite a bit, which profoundly enriched my personal life and deeply influenced all forms of my art. Alexandra's Photography - is the second portfolio...
